A long time ago, when Leah and I were dating the first time, before the phobia of commitment cleared for me, I would go to India Quality and grab us some lunch so we could sit in Jean Therapy, dine and chat. Since then, India Quality has undergone a major renovation and become a proper restaurant. Fortunately, the food, the thing that made it a great place to go for take out (the old place wasn't a space that one would consider a dining destination), is still as good as I remember.
India Quality is another of those little places that one might walk by when traversing the dead zone from the Fenway to Newbury. It's hidden away in a below ground level space that could be too easy to miss. However, try to look for it and grab a bite.
The new interior is much more inviting, a long space with deep red carpeting and chairs, white tablecloths and clean white walls trimmed in light wood. They have a beer and wine license now, meaning that one can grab a bottle of something that is not great, but decent (the beer menu is the one that i'm really impressed by) and share that with a very good meal.
I am a fan of Biryani and haven't really found one that matches the one that I had at Not Just Snacks in Providence. However, since I don't live in Providence and don't find many reasons to head that way, I was glad to find theirs. It's a blend of rice with saffron, golden raisins, almonds, spices and one's choice of meat or vegetables. I love the Biryani at India Quality. So far, the best i've found in the city.
As well, they have a large menu with many options for those who have dietary restrictions or other interests in food. Great kebabs, saag tikki, samosas, papadum, curries, masalas and the like.
I haven't dined in the restaurant, but when I have gone to pick up food from the new joint, I have been greeted warmly and the staff seems genuinely happy to see me come in. The food is fresh, well-seasoned, and tasty as well as being a great deal. As well, when one orders something spicy, it actually is. That might not be a big deal for many people, but for me, it's huge.
Having just done all this blogging about the food there, I am suddenly hungry for some Biryani. Wonder if I can grab something and just save it for tomorrow? I'm working at the mall all weekend, after all.

Well you know very well how I feel about India Quality. I ate it at least once a week now and still crave it. I'm so lucky to have it close to where I work.
